Young Artist of the Year at Gramophone Awards

Italian pianist Beatrice Rana was crowned Young Artist of the Year at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards 2017. A BBC New Generation Artist and an exclusive Warner Classics recording artist at the age of 24, she has already produced two critically-acclaimed albums praised for ‘calm stillness that betokens perfectly relaxed technique and allows her to bring out the innate intelligence of her musical personality’.

Beatrice was present at the award ceremony, which took place in London, to receive the award in person and treat the audience to a live performance of Schumann/Liszt’s “Widmung”.

The Gramophone Classical Music Awards are one of the most significant honors bestowed on recordings in the classical record industry. They are often referred to as the “British Grammy” or the “Oscars for Classical Music”. The winners are selected annually by critics for Gramophone and various members of the industry, including retailers, broadcasters, arts administrators and musicians.
